LILY’S POV

‘Oh my goodness…’ The shock of seeing him made my heart nearly fly out of my chest. I lost control as I flinched and my phone unknowingly fell from my grasp. My movements were awkward and embarrassing but quick as I reflexively caught it, preventing it from falling to the floor.

I looked at Noah and a nervous smile made my lips tremble. His sudden presence when we were just talking about him had caught me unawares. He had a baffled expression on his face as he stared at me, wondering what was going on with me. I hope he didn’t hear anything Jane said on the phone about him. If he did, it would be ultimately mortifying.

“Hello…?” Jane’s voice was still sounding at the other end of the line. “Lily? Are you still there? I know you are. You can’t keep avoiding me anytime I ask you questions about…”
