Book 3: Under Attack

A commotion outside causes me to pause with my coffee mug halfway to my mouth. I gaze over at Mark, who looks at me with a similarly perplexed gaze.

“What is happening out there? What’s that noise?” I ask as I strain my ears to listen to what a voice from outside is saying.

All I can make out is a female voice saying something about the capital. I put my mug down a little too hard and some coffee spills out. I don’t care about the mess and head out the door of the dining hall. Mark follows close behind me as we make our way to where the commotion is coming from.

“Oh, you're not so tough now are you, King Gene? I thought you were the almighty king, but it seems you’re just a delusional piece of royal ass. Guess who got power over the capital? We do! We do! And we did this right under your nose. All powerful royal army my bouncy ass,” a woman exclaims as she walks up and down the stairs leading into the main hall.
