Chapter 4. Fate

Ten Years Later....

"Please, my lord, this is all a misunderstanding. I would never dare try to betray you." A man in his mid-thirties seemed to be kneeling by putting his head on the ground. He is kneeling in front of the great vampire inside his cave.

"You wouldn't betray me, would you? So why did you work together with Kim Sung Gi to find his whereabouts? You do realize that man is my enemy, right? " Helios showed his hatred toward the man who he knows is trying to plan and find a way to kill him together with Kim Sung Gi. He knows there are many people in the kingdom who wish for his death. With each year passing by, his cruelity becomes more severe. The fallen victim of his wickedness can't be counted anymore.

"No sir. I!" When the vampire dashes toward him and sinks his sharp teeth into his neck, the man is unable to finish his sentence. Helios bit the man's neck and sucked his blood until his body became limp and wizened like an old dead plant. After he killed the man, Helios smashed the body against the cave wall, looking very angry. He can't tolerate anyone who betrays him.

"Humans can really become more cruel than me, right? At first they declare their loyalty just to use my power, but then when they feel frightened and endangered by my absence, they won't hesitate to stab my back. I hope you will never do that. " Helios turned around and looked at the young woman who was still standing beside his throne. The beautiful young woman nodded her head without showing a change in her expression.

"You can trust me, my lord," said Moon Ryeong, looking straightly into Helios's eyes with a lot of confidence.

The vampire feels satisfied by her answer. He smiles and feels relieved. Finally, the woman in front of him would always stay by his side because he knows that the two of them somewhat have a lot of similarities. She needs him and so does he. Helios then walks towards her and stands in front of her. He was caressing her cheek and observing her face.

"The more you grow up into a beautiful woman, the more you look like her. Your face really looks like hers. That's good. We can use your face to deceive Kim Sung Gi and kill him," said Helios. He still can't move his gaze from her beautiful face. Moon Ryeong somehow has the same face as the woman Sung Gi loves. A woman who had been Helios killed in the past. He is sure that her face would give him much benefit in killing his sworn enemy. Moon Ryeong pulls her upper corner lip back. She shows her wicked smile.

After visiting Helios's cave, Moon Ryeong brought along her waitress to go for a walk together. Staying for a long time in the cave made the young woman feel somehow tired and depressed. There is too much bloody odor and darkness, which makes her feel dead. Moon Ryeong walks around the forest to breathe some fresh air and feel the warmth of sunlight. When she is staring at the bright sun, she wonders how the vampire feels who has lived his entire life without being able to feel the warmth of the sun like her. His life is so empty and dark that everyone fears him. Is that what makes him feel somewhat lonely?

"Waah... waah... what is the rich girl doing alone in the forest like this?" Suddenly, Moon Ryeong hears the voice of a man behind her back. She turned around to find hordes of muggers surrounding her.

"Stay away from my mistress, you don't know how powerful her family is. Go away if you wish to stay alive! " Moon Ryeong's waitress tried to protect the mistress using her skinny body. The mugger laughs ridiculously at hearing the threat from a weak girl. They start to get even closer and closer.

"What do you want? Money? Gold? Just take what you want and go away. " Moon Ryeong tries to get rid of them by making an offering. She looks as calm as deep water, even when in danger.

"We want the mistress to entertain us," said one of the muggers, poking Moon Ryeong's cheek and smiling mockingly.

"You brat!" The waitress pushed away the man who dared to touch her mistress. But of course, her skinny body didn't have too much strength to go against them. She is soon trapped in the hands of a stronger man. She tries to release herself but she can't.

The other mugger tries to get their hand on Moon Ryeong. The cold young woman immediately slaps their faces and pierces them with her glaring gaze. The mugger soon pushes Moon Ryeong down until she falls to the ground. Unfortunately, Moon Ryeong is not a person who is easily given up. She is trying to find a weapon to attack back and finds a large rock that suits her hand. She planned to hit his head with the rock.

"TAKK!!" Suddenly, an unsharp arrow hits the mugger's body and makes him feel pain. Moon Ryeong turns her gaze to the source of an arrow. She finds a young, dignity-filled scholar standing not far away from them. It seems that the scholar purposely removed the sharp metal from the arrow to prevent his attack killing the target. She doesn't recognize the man. But he is Lee Yoon, the crown prince of Joseon. Her future husband.
