Chapter 124. Threats and Ultimatums

I was going to be a father, I was really going to be a father. The very thought scared me, but it also brought me a strange joy. 

If this was going to be with my wife, it would have been one of the best days of my life. But that was not the case and so it scared me. 

“I need to talk to you,” Meghan said, her eyes trained on me. “In private…we could find an empty room to do so.”

Hunter looked at me, silently asking me if this was okay. I nodded and flashed a smile at Lucy before walking out of the room with Meghan. 

As she led me to a private room down the hall, my mind tried to think of what she was going to say. But of course, I was not going to be able to do that, I did not have superpowers. 

Uncertainty gnawed at me but I knew that I could not put this off nor could I escape it. 

Once we were alone in the room, she turned to face me, her expression unreadable. It bothered me that she was being so nonchalant.
