The Job Offer. Part 2
When the day of my shoot rolls around, I have no choice but to ask Adam for a ride. It’s right after my shift at the coffee shop and I’d be late if I took the bus.
During the drive, I get a first hand understanding what it means to be ‘on pins and needles.’ Either I’m fiddling with the radio, scrolling pointlessly through my phone, or moving around in my seat trying to find a comfortable position.
“Nervous?” Adam asks. He glances at me then returns his attention on the road.
I sigh. “How can you tell when I’m hiding it so well?”
“Don’t be. You’ll do great.”
“How do you know?”
“Because you’ve never been the type to half-ass anything.”
“Here’s hoping I don’t start today.”
He chuckles and I smile, my nerves calming down. Adam’s confidence in me bolsters mine. I relax in my seat, watching the other cars in the lane beside ours. Adam’s voice cuts into my calm.
“I looked up the author name you told me, but it didn’t return any hits.”
