As October cast a quick glance at Scarlett, her mouth gaped open. "Why not? You look like you want a phone."

"I haven't mentioned to you that I want one. Did I?"

"No. You didn't, but this is the latest one."

Standing up from the chair, Scarlett turned to face October. Her attention was drawn to the table as she picked up the phone. She looked in Mia's direction. "You can have it," she said.

Mia gasped as she took the phone from Scarlett's outstretched hand. "Really?"

"Yeah. Whatever." When Scarlett located the stairs, she returned to her room.

October dragged the phone away from Mia aggressively. "It's not yours,"

"Mom. That is the iPhone 14 Pro Max! Scarlett doesn't need it as badly as I do. She doesn't even appreciate you for that. I appreciate you, so please give it to me." Mia made a puppy face, but October ignored her. If she does not hand the phone to Scarlett, their plans to find out what she is up to will be thwarted.
