Chapter 17. The Sacrifice
Ayana’s POV
Yeah! I pretty well know that perfectly. He is always so serious that jokes don’t even get to make it to his ears. But that will not fool me. “And I also know that there must be a big catch for this offer of yours, Father! So, spit! If I accept this ‘golden’ chance you are offering, what do I have to do in return?” I ask.
They trade questionable glances as if they are about to drop a bomb. And I know it really must be a bomb. Too bad that no matter how much I bang my head, I can’t seem to have a clue on what this might be.
Then, after their eyes decide who is to relay the news, his wife speaks. “Not much of a sacrifice. This is actually a favor considering your case and how you messed up your life and our lives as well. You disappointed us, Ayana! You broke our hearts.”
