Chapter 11. Avoiding Him
Gwen opened her eyes in a new room. She began by noticing her puffy eyes and the dried tears on her cheeks. She instantly realized why she had been crying. Gwen clenched her fists and made an effort to block off the memory of what had transpired that evening.
“I’m in love with Evander Vasquez,” she said. Why would my heart throb for that man—who I should not have liked in the first place—of all men? Why? Gwen pondered to herself.
After that, Gwen wasn’t sure what she would do. Last night, she heard a gunshot but chose to ignore it until Eleanor ran over to her carrying a sniper on her shoulder. She claimed that after hearing the news from her older brother, she shot Evander on her own because she was so furious. Attorney Radleigh, her husband, claimed that he attempted to stop her but was powerless to stop her if she was too enraged.
