The clock on his office wall read only 5:30 PM, yet the pull to see Camila tugged at him stronger than any report or spreadsheet ever could. For months, work had been his sanctuary, but tonight, the prospect of spending time with her eclipsed even his own disciplined routine.

“Leaving already?” his assistant called out, surprise threading her voice as she peeked over the rim of her glasses.

“Believe it or not, yes.” Travis’s lips curved upward into a smile that felt almost foreign to him but entirely welcome. “I’ve got plans.”

“Ah, with Ms. Martinez, I presume?” she teased, tapping a pen against her desk with a knowing smirk that suggested she’d been tracking their budding closeness more keenly than anyone else.
