Chapter 88. New Rumours
The rhythmic tapping of Travis Turner’s fingers against the polished mahogany of his desk sounded like a metronome gone awry—a frenetic pulse echoing the chaos that had besieged his company. Stacks of paperwork towered around him like modern-day obelisks, each sheet inscribed with urgent problems demanding immediate attention. Financial reports, construction updates, client contracts—all jostled for dominance on the surface, a silent testament to the weight of responsibility that pressed down on him from every angle.
“Travis, the Henderson account is on line one,” his assistant interjected from the doorway, her voice tinged with urgency.
“Take a message,” he called out, not lifting his gaze from the contract in front of him. His eyes scanned the dense print with laser focus, but his mind refused to settle.
“Again?” she asked, eyebrows knitting in concern.
