Chapter 145. What To Do?

“You've been awfully quiet, Hailey. Something wrong?” Uncle Pete asked on the drive back home.

It was really late. I sat with Celine at the back, she was quiet as well.

I shook my head. “No. I'm fine.” But I wasn't, not at all.

“Are you sure? You seem troubled.” Jared put in, concern lacing his tone.

“I'm fine.” I was troubled.

After that call, my mind had been restless. I could not fathom where to begin trailing my thoughts. The voice on that call had been unrecognizable and I suspected whoever it was, wanted it so.

It was, no doubt, the person responsible for the kidnap of Nina. One of the candidates, but who exactly? And why had they reached out to me?

What not the President or his wife, the First Lady? Why me? How had they gotten my number?

Whoever that had made that call knew Jared and me. Where was Rashford? How come all of a sudden he was nowhere to be found? And was the President aware his personal aid
