Chapter 79. A Mother’s Broken Heart
“Her fever still hasn’t gotten better?” asked Rafael, who was troubled by the fact that Aleah had not stopped holding Athena, who was very fussy today.
“Yes, it hasn’t,” Aleah replied without even turning around. She was glued to her little daughter, who was fidgeting in her arms and whining several times.
Aleah repeatedly placed the back of her hand on her daughter’s forehead to check her fever. The fever-reducing plaster on Athena’s forehead didn’t even seem to be working properly, as the baby’s fever still burned the back of Aleah’s hand.
“Rafael, I think we should go to the hospital. Athena’s fever isn’t letting up,” Aleah said in a choked voice. It was obvious that panic was starting to get the better of her.
“I’ll get the driver to prepare the car,” Rafael said as he rose from his bed. He rushed into the walk-in closet and soon returned dressed in warm clothes.
