Abe’s POV

We were taken to an office and asked to wait for a man. I couldn’t get a hold of his name, but his duty was to take our files and send us to the place we ought to be sent. Elijah started to complain as we sat in the office. I was beginning to feel irritated by his constant talking. Just then, the door opened and a man walked inside the room.

He sat on his chair and kindly took our papers. He checked our names and then wrote something unreadable in our files. Elijah and I stared at each other, worried that something might be wrong.

“We are finished.”

He spoke, putting one hand on his face and smiling.

Elijah and I met with the same lady from before. She placed the files inside another and then gave us both—Elijah and myself—a glass of ice-cold water.
