JUNE
I had decided to march over to the ones sitting at the table next to mine to inquire about the reasons for their insult but Mark suddenly appeared, smiling as he placed the bowls of ice cream on the table.
“I got your favourite, June. It's just a pity they don't have the coconut-flavoured one,” he said with a pout as he sat opposite me.
The moment he sat down, the mutterings from the girls increased.
“What's going on?” He turned to look at the girls, who immediately shut their mouths when they noticed his attention on them. “Do you think they are talking about us?” He focused on me.
“I don't know,” I shrugged, opening the bowl, so I could see the goodies in it. I just can't wait to have my ice cream.
“They seem to be looking at their phones,” Mark pointed out, discreetly looking around.
At his words, I turned to look around. And sure enough, those girls were looking at their phones.
