Chapter 17. Stay Around Tonight

He didn’t move, just stood there dripping on the hallway runner, towel riding low enough to show the V that disappeared under terry cloth. One eyebrow arched, like he was waiting for me to blink first.
I didn’t.
“Adrian never mentioned you crash here,” I said, stepping closer. The floorboards creaked under my bare feet, loud in the hush.
“Last-minute thing. The flight got in an hour ago. He said I can use the guest room, shower, and make myself at home.” Enzo’s gaze dipped again, lingered on the way the dress clung to my hips. “He didn’t say the home came with scenery.”
I rolled my eyes, but heat crawled up my neck anyway. “Cute. Are you always this smooth after a red-eye?”
“Only when the view’s worth it.” He rubbed the back of his neck with the towel, muscles shifting. “You always walk around dressed like sin when your parents are out?”
“Only when I know I’m alone.” I tilted my head. “Guess I’m not.”
A beat of silence.
