Chapter 52. Breakfast for Me

The smell dragged me out of sleep, bacon, garlic, something buttery and rich.
My stomach growled before my eyes even opened. Sunlight was pouring through the bedroom window, warm and golden, and the sheets beside me were still warm from where Adrian had been.
I rolled out of bed naked, every muscle deliciously sore, skin marked with faint bruises and red lines from last night.
I grinned at the memory, padded barefoot down the hall, and found him in the kitchen, shirtless in low slung sweatpants, flipping pancakes at the stove like he’d never left.
I didn’t say anything. I just walked up behind him, wrapped my arms around his waist, and pressed my whole body against his back. He smelled like coffee and sex and home.
“Morning, birthday girl,” he murmured, tilting his head so I could kiss his neck.
“Morning, hubby,” I whispered against his skin, and felt him shiver.
He turned the burner down, spun in my arms, and kissed me slow
