I slid into the passenger seat, still flushed, hair a little wild, the taste of Martha lingering on my tongue like a secret I’d never tell.
Adrian glanced over as he started the engine, one brow raised.
“Took you a while,” he said, half smiling, half-curious.
“Had to take care of something,” I answered, leaning across the console to kiss him slowly and deeply.
He hummed into the kiss, hand sliding to the back of my neck, then pulled back just enough to grin.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Born ready.”
He reversed out of the drive and pointed us toward the highway, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on my thigh like it belonged there.
We hit the airport exit twenty minutes later. I watched the signs roll by, International Terminal and suddenly realized he’d never actually said where we were going.
I turned to him, mock serious.
“You still haven’t told me what country we’re moving to, husband.”
