Chapter 18

I gasp as his mouth covers mine, my head thudding against the door as he pushes me back against it, his hands on either side of my face as he kisses me. My entire body is running hot, sizzling as my brain freezes completely.

He starts to slow down, then he pulls away—enough so that my lips separate, but close enough still that his breath is hitting my mouth.

His eyes search mine as I look up at him, trying to find an answer. A reaction. Something.

But I’m frozen to the spot.

My hands are by my sides, palms pressed back against the door. My mouth is open slightly as I breathe. My eyebrows are pinched together in a frown as my mind tries to comprehend the fact that David just kissed me.

His thumb moves on my cheek, his eyes focusing on the movement, giving me a moment to blink through my confusion.
