Chapter 79. Wrong or Right?
She didn’t answer until a quarter to midnight, and when she did, her yawn was loud and clear.
“Hello?”
A sigh of relief escapes me upon hearing her voice. Her talking to me means she’s safe and I was worried for nothing. I bated a breath, not knowing what to say. Her name leaves my lips in a whisper and I held my breath, awaiting a reply. She exhales sharply and when I hear the shuffling of feet, I’m afraid she would hang up.
“Please don’t hang up.”
She obliges. “What do you want, Kian Lewry?” she asks curtly, and I hate how emotionless she sounds. I did this to her.
“I…I just wanted to talk to you.”
“I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t know how the hell you got my number, but I want you to get off my phone and never call this line again.”
“Please don’t hang up,” I beg, clutching the phone.
“Why should I listen to you?”
“For old times’ sake, Farrah please.”
“Fine,” she snarled. “You’ve got ten minutes.”
