Chapter 30
“Well, Gianna seems like you got yourself in a real pickle.” Mama Helen said, placing a glass scotch in front of me.
“That guy doesn’t know what he’s missing. You’re beautiful, hardworking and know the importance of family.” Greg said.
I sniffled, “He didn’t give me a real explanation.”
What was I doing? Laying out all my problems to a bunch of people I’ve known for half an hour? This was an all-time low. To their credit, they were great listeners. Most of what I told them I hadn’t told Lilly and she’s my best friend. It was easier to talk to strangers.
Helen owned the place and Gregg and his pool buddy were frequent visitors to the place. It had been raining ever since I burst in here and I sat there shivering like a wet cat.
“So no wedding?” Gregg asked.
I took a sip of scotch and nearly leapt out of my seat. I wasn’t suited to this kind of stuff.
