Not in front of Jason. Not when he was watching me like a hawk, waiting for any crack in my composure.
He always thought he was so clever, so in control. But he didn’t know me…not really. He didn’t know how far I was willing to go to protect what was mine.
I crossed my arms, leaning against the cracked wall, my eyes narrowing as Jason continued to hurl accusations at me. His voice was sharp, relentless, chipping away at my patience.
He thought he could break me, corner me, force me to confess. But I was better than that. I’d been playing this game long before he ever stepped into my world.
I forced a laugh, tilting my head as I looked at him. “You’re losing your touch, Jason. This little interrogation of yours is pathetic.” I made sure my voice was steady, dripping with mockery.
