Chapter 901
Isabella's POV
No matter how much he still clung to the past, no matter how much he tried to act like Layla’s ghost was still haunting him, he would never walk away from his own blood.
And Damien? Well…
He was supposed to be gone for good.
I picked up my glass of wine…well, what used to be wine before I dramatically dumped it out and refilled it with juice for appearances. I couldn’t afford to slip up.
I was just about to take a sip when…
Voices.
I stiffened.
My fingers tightened around the glass as my eyes flickered toward the door.
That voice…
I froze, my heart hammering.
No. It couldn’t be.
It was impossible.
I set the glass down and took slow steps toward the door, straining my ears. The voices were getting louder, clearer.
And then I heard it.
Damien.
I felt the blood drain from my face.
I grabbed the dresser to steady myself. Was I dreaming? Hallucinating?
