Chapter 9

Alexander woke up to the sound of his phone ringing incessantly. He groggily reached for it on his bedside table and saw that it was William calling him.

“What’s going on, Will?” Alexander asked, his voice still thick with sleep.

“Get down to the basement, now,” William replied, his voice laced with anger.

Alexander quickly got dressed and made his way down to the basement. As he approached, he could hear William shouting in frustration. When he entered the room, he was taken aback by the amount of anger that seemed to be gripping his friend.

“What’s going on, Will?” Alexander asked cautiously, not wanting to set him off even more.

“I just got a call from HR,” William said, his face red with anger. “They told me that you’ve accepted Lily’s request to bring her younger sister on the business trip. What the hell were you thinking?”
