Maxine’s POV

We let the shock of what he said settle between us for a moment. The silence reigns. The only thing we heard was the sound of the tires against the road.

"What happened to him?" I asked. He looked through the rearview mirror at me in the backseat.

"He disappeared. It was a little while after my wife’s death. I’ve been searching for him ever since, hoping to bring him back. I think maybe the curse has a hand in this I just hope he's still alive."

We didn't ask him any more questions and were stuck in silence until we reached the lodge. Mr. Grayson pulled over and helped us bring our things out of the trunk.

"You girls move back into your room. We'll talk some more tomorrow." He said.
