Chapter 5
She opened her eyes when the motion stopped. She quickly withdrew her arms from his person and hoped he didn’t realize that they were there. The rain had stopped. Too afraid to look up, she kept her eyes glued to the ground as she asked, “Why are we stopping, and where are the others? My wedding dress is ruined, and I look like a drowned rat.”
“Are you talking to me or the horse’s neck?” he asked, removing the hat from her head. Her hair was only wet at the ends.
She hoped to dear God he put the hat back on his head. When she looked up, he was looking at her with those eyes of his. His hair was soaked, causing his plaits to look like two thick ropes on each of his shoulders. She had never seen such beautiful hair on a man. His facial features were strong. He had thick but not bushy eyebrows and full eyelashes. Even with the stubble, he was quite attractive in a scary way. He had a broad nose and full lips. She quickly looked away.
