Chapter 98
As my comments began to register in their minds, Trinity and Jinny both wore expressions of remorse on their faces. The strong smell of blood assaulted my senses, taking over my thoughts and attention. Even though the wound had been treated, there was still blood all over both me and Kristoff. I felt my attention drawn inexorably to my hands, and I gazed down at them. My attention gradually shifted to Kristoff, like that of a predator watching its prey from a distance.
I stuttered, "I-I-I," as I came back to myself for a split second after being distracted. As I spoke and got to my feet, Jinny and Trinity's eyes darted to follow what I was doing.
I said, "I, I need to go now." and then I turned to exit the room.
