“What goal?” Ruth asked, staring at Tory’s face. “What goal are you talking about Tory? You can’t keep me in the dark and say that you are my friend.”

Tory laughed again as she wondered where Ruth’s mind was when she was trying her best to connect words together.

“Your goal is simple, Ruth,” she said. “You have to return to West Virginia, get closer to Henry Crossword and see if you can create something special with him.”

“Something special?”

“Yes!” Tory nodded. “You have to create something special with him, and with your relationship with him through your sister’s marriage to his brother, you stand a better chance.”

“I see your point.” Ruth now finally understood where Tory was coming from. She now understood that Tory wanted her to get to Henry’s heart.

“You have to try your luck, Ruth,” Tory said. “You have to seduce him. There is a strong chance he is going to fall for you.”
