Chapter 27

Anastasia watched the trees pass by as Draco drove them back to the mansion. She finally felt truly at peace now that she got to talk to her father. Knowing he was safe pulled a stick to her heart. From the corner of her eyes, she could feel Draco looking at her. He seemed quiet all of a sudden and she wanted to know what he was thinking.

“What are you thinking?” he finally said, breaking the silence between them.

“Nothing, I’m just glad to know Papa’s alright.” She looked at him then, with a smile. “I didn’t know you both knew each other. I didn’t even think he could hide something like this from me. I felt betrayed. My whole life was a lie.”

“He did it to protect you, baby doll,” he assured, as he held her hand. Anastasia glanced at him with sadness in her eyes. “When I first saw you, I knew you were different and I vowed to protect you from the mess I made. In my world, you’ll be in danger. And I don’t want you to be
