Summer’s POV
There was a comfortable hum of the engine and the soft glow of warning lights on the dashboard when Jared nudged me with his elbow. “You’re being quiet again.”
I mustered a dramatic sigh and pressed my forehead against the cool glass of the window. “I feel like I’ve just dumped my entire soul on you, and now I’m all out of feelings.” Internally I rolled my eyes at myself. I sounded a bit dramatic, but that was pretty much my default setting these days.
Jared’s brows rose. “My older brother is an alpha.”
I turned slowly, blinking as if emerging from a trance. He looked casual but serious, one elbow resting on the center console like he’d been planning this family reveal for days. “Your parents are alphas, too?” I asked, trying to keep the tone light. Because how else does one discuss family dynamics in the middle of a cross-country road trip?
