Chapter 21
Riley’s POV
Stepping into the back corner of the shower stall, I yanked the curtain closed like it was about to stage a jailbreak. I draped my towel over the rod and told it, “Don’t be nosy,” before peeling off my clothes. As soon as the hot water hit my shoulders, I practically exhaled steam myself. Nine days of running from bad guys, battling my own adrenaline, and avoiding textbooks had left me craving nothing more than this little oasis of sanity.
A soft thump made me freeze mid-rub. I peeked through the tiny gap in the curtain, fully expecting to see Noah peering back with that terrifyingly handsome silhouette-of-a-man stance. Instead, he was slumped on the floor against the tiled wall, towel bundled under his head like a makeshift pillow and draped around his neck like a giant, fluffy scarf. One nostril in particular delivered a quiet snore that was part rumble, part squeak.
