Lila’s POV

Finally, victory: we snuck into my room without alerting that hyper-vigilant RA or any wandering hall monitors. My heroics at the sub shop had paid off—I still had my keys jingling in my pocket. Rowan, on the other hand, was acting like he’d never seen four walls before. He lifted his muzzle, sniffed the hallway like it was gourmet cheese, then barged in and began a forensic examination of every corner of my mess.

I set down the carefully looted loot from my roommate-less paradise—because yes, I’d miraculously scored a single this semester—and marveled at all the free real estate: two beds, two desks, two closets. No roommate horror stories this time. I shuddered at the memory of Riley trying to explain my human roommate why her wolf BFF was snooping through drawers.
