In all these years, I cannot remember a time when I slept as soundly as I did tonight. I had just rediscovered how to breathe, and I had a profound sense of calm and relaxation throughout my entire body.

I stirred in my sleep when I became aware of Sebastian getting out of bed and putting on his pants before dialing a number on his phone. He exited the room with caution, and I could hear his footsteps as he made his way towards the balcony.

I sighed as I attempted to fall back asleep, but a few minutes later, I was startled awake again by the sound of the door to the room being opened and then closed once more. I heard his footsteps come to a halt in front of me, and I could feel him watching me.

He most likely believed that I was deep in my sleep, so he walked towards the closet and pulled a shirt to wear before cautiously stepping back out of the room.
