Chapter 27. My Best Friend's Boyfriend

CELINE’s POV

I was in the cab preparing to head home when my phone unexpectedly rang, and when I checked the caller, I saw that it was Jenny… a childhood friend of mine who lived in New Jersey, only nine miles away from the city. Even though we don't see each other very often, we make sure to stay in touch with each other via the phone at all times.

‘‘Hello, Jenny…?’’ I greeted her, and she immediately let out a loud scream, which caused me to grimace as I slightly pull the phone away from my ear and stared at it for a moment before I pressed it back against my ear. ‘‘Hey, what’s happening?’’

‘‘Celine... I need your help!’’

‘‘Why? What's the matter?’’ I inquired, since I was concerned about what happened to her. ‘‘You have to calm down yourself first and tell me what’s going on!’’

‘‘Well… I just got a new boyfriend!’’ She shrieked with joy, and despite the fact that I rolled my eyes and felt a twinge of envy, I wanted to express my genuine happiness for her.
