Chapter 52. Misunderstood
I slipped my shoes on after fixing my dress. Today, I am going to visit Jenny. I have to check whether she was fine and awake and I wanted to find out if it was true that my father fulfilled his promise and paid all her medical expenses.
My stitches were removed and the bruises faded enough to be hidden under make-up. There were only shadows, but you could only notice them if you looked closely.
Sebastian left a while ago after handing me some clothes and make-ups. He knew I would need this. I was free to do what I wanted now, since he’s not here anymore. I slowly walked towards the door and opened it, walking out of the room, but as I turned around after pulling the door shut, I bumped into a couple.
‘‘Hey!’’ the girl’s eyes narrowed as she stared at me. ‘‘You’re… you’re Miss Brylee, aren’t you?’’
My eyes widened, and I was stunned for a moment. What would I tell them? ‘‘I… I’m…’’ a breath that was so warm suddenly blew in my ear.
