"'Kaden..." I murmured quietly as I stared up at the ceiling, my ears catching the melody from the music box. He’s still single. He didn’t marry that girl, and I couldn’t help but wonder why. Did he come back to Manhattan for me?
I propped myself up and wound the music box again when the tune faded out. Besides Lincoln, this music box was my lifeline after the shock of Auntie marrying Dr. Hendery.

On my way home from school, Farrah, Auntie's secretary, called to let me know that she had an asthma attack. I immediately dialed Dr. Hendery to fill him in on what happened.
“Farrah! Where’s Mom?” I asked as soon as I stepped into their office building. Before she could answer, I rushed to Auntie's office and flung the door open, only to be stunned by the scene before me.
