“A man?” the woman echoed, her lips curving into a significant smile. “There was no man when I rescued you. My name is Flora, by the way. Flora Coleman.” Her eyes sparkled with an emotion I couldn’t decipher. “It seems you’ve lost a portion of your memories, but we’ll consult the doctor about your condition and how to recover those memories that have been lost. Meanwhile, it’s important for you to know that you are already divorced from your husband, Troy Byers.”

“What?” That was a good thing though, but I didn’t remember that fact. Chills suddenly ran through my body, and I began to think about what might’ve happened to me if Flora hadn’t saved me. “But I couldn’t have possibly lost my memory. I mean, something like that couldn’t have happened to me. I…” But I stopped short.

The look on Flora’s face as she looked at me sadly, made me believe her. “It’s true. I’m so sorry, my dear…”
