I nearly choked on air. “Excuse me?!”
Beauty smirked, clearly enjoying my reaction. “It makes sense. The dizziness, the nausea, the loss of appetite. And the way you just gagged at the smell of food? Everly, I’ve been pregnant before—I know the signs.”
I held my stomach and laughed. “You can’t be serious.”
Beauty leaned in, her smirk widening. “Oh, I’m very serious.”
I shook my head. “No. That’s ridiculous. You don’t even know what you’re saying.”
Beauty shrugged. “If you say so.” But she looked as if she knew exactly what she was saying.
I took a piece of bread, and tried to eat, as a way of telling Beauty that she was mistaken. “See? I’m eating.” I took a bite.
