A few minutes later.
I was already dressed in my battle gear and took a sharp dagger that I wanted to strap to my thigh when Kaelan’s heavy footsteps approached.
He stopped behind me, his presence towering and commanding as always. I turned to face him.
His arms were crossed, and his lips pressed into a firm line.
“You’re not going,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I looked up at him with a frown on my face. “Excuse me?”
“You’re not going,” he repeated. “Something’s wrong with you this morning. I can see it. You’re staying here.”
I scoffed. “Kaelan, I feel fine. It was just a little dizziness.”
“Just dizziness?” He held my shoulders gently, his scent making me want to get closer to him. “Everly, I saw you a minute ago. You were pale, sweating, and barely able to stand.” He gritted his teeth. “I’m not risking you out there.”
“It’s probably due to the tedious training last night. But I’m fine.”
