Ramon POV

I was going to lose them. When Lake found out the truth, I was going to lose both of them. He’d take Ollie and leave, and I’d be left alone with the knowledge that I’d destroyed my own family through my actions—however unknowing those actions had been.

My phone rang. Rhodes’s name flashed on the screen.

“Ramon,” he said when I answered, his voice gentle. “Rafael called me. Said you’re spiraling. Where are you?”

“Stairwell,” I managed to choke out. “East wing, third floor.”

“Stay there. I’m coming.”

He hung up, and I sat there in the dim light of the stairwell, surrounded by concrete and emergency exit signs, and waited for my brother to find me.

When Rhodes appeared a few minutes later, he took one look at my face and sat down beside me on the step, not saying anything, just being present.
