Chapter 51. Good Little Wife

A knock came to Xavier’s door, and he cringed and buried his head further into the pillow. He had dismissed the guards and told them to not bother him, not even if the palace was on fire. Whoever was at the door either had a death wish or had a death wish. He would be inclined to give it to them if they didn’t leave. He almost fell back to the state of sleep when another knock came on the door.

The last two guards that were in his room felt his fury. However, what he did then would not compare to what he would do to the intruder at the door.

His hand fisted in a second and his eyes fluttered, already angry, and it made his head hurt. Before he could take himself off the bed, the door opened and someone entered.

Usually, he’d know the intruder by their scent, but the much wine he had drunk before falling into bed last night still affected his sense of smell. He didn’t care, he would do justice to the intruder either way.

He got off the bed and turned around, b
