Edward takes the stairs two at a time, holding me close to his chest. Anger is radiating off his body, but I take comfort in it. It is not anger directed at me. For the first time in Edward’s life, he wants to protect me, or at least I think he does.

He storms past my bedroom, and I glance over his shoulder. “My room…”

“We aren’t going to your room,” he growls.

Peering over his shoulder, I look for Winston, but he isn’t following us. “Where is Winston?”

“He is taking care of things downstairs while I take care of you,” he grumbles.
