“Lovette you don’t have to. I completely understand I just need reassurance every now and then so I know you still love me and you always will.”

“It’s alright.” He came to kneel in front of me again. He took my hand and kissed it and then kissed my forehead. “I will wait till when you’re done here then we can finally be together. Okay?”

As I stared at him I honestly wished I wasn’t the one that was going to break his heart this way but I couldn’t avoid it. He had such high hopes.

“Manuel I don’t love you.” I blurted it out without even wanting to.

Pause. Manuel dropped my hands.

“Lovette………” he looked confused and hurt and there was still a glimpse of hope in his eyes. Maybe he hoped that I didn’t mean it. But I did. I meant it so much.
