The Dark Guards, the councilmen, the Elder, and even Nate were watching this like it was a fictional event, something played on the TV where a script was involved and hours of rehearsal where the characters feigned emotion without really feeling it. That’s what this was to them, a puppet show, put on for their amusement.

“I agree to the change of rules,” the Elder announced.

How come every person in a position of power is a man who doesn’t see women as anything other than sexual objects or childbearing machines whose only purpose is to exist for the joy of men and submit to the cruelty in which they dominate?
