Chapter 9
The string around Celeste’s heart tightened, her eyes watering. Did he really just say that? Did he really just mention last night?
Was she not crying too? Did he not see that?
Tears drained like a ruptured pipe down her cheeks as she pointed at him. “You’re calling me inconsiderate? I’m selfish? What about you? What about her? I’m your mate, mistake or not; you marked me and yet last night when I was buried in anguish, you were making love to her. Did any of you care about me then? When I was suffering, hurting…I’m sure you didn’t, thus why I hate you, both of you.”
Celeste wiped her cheeks and marched over to the stove, turning it off. She grabbed the pot holder, clumsily situation it over her hand to take up the pot. “You don’t have to worry about me seducing you anymore…I won’t, not for the rest of time that I’m here.”
And with that, she walked past him, heading straight up the stairs. She might be weak, she might be vulnerable, but she would not let him
