At the dinner table, Xavier spent most of the time eating in silence, his posture relaxed but distant. He only responded briefly when spoken to by the elders, his tone polite yet detached.
Thinking he was just shy, Karina proactively picked up a piece of salmon and placed it on his plate. She smiled sweetly as she did so, her gaze soft like spring water.
“Xavier, try this fish. It’s a specialty by the Japanese chef we just hired.”
Without even looking at her, Xavier glanced down at the fish resting neatly on his plate and said indifferently, “Thanks. But I’ve been having allergic reactions lately—can’t eat anything fishy.”
