Racheal watched Steffan.
She saw the shocked expression on his face.
She waited for him to turn and leave. Or to ask why she did not let him know immediately, instead of standing here wasting time speaking to her.
Or even ask her how she knew.
“No, I want to be with you now.” He said, surprising her.
That was the last thing she had expected him to say.
“What?”
He said nothing.
“Do you hate your mother so much?”
He shook his head.
“I should. But I don’t.” He paused. “There is nothing I can do for her that the doctors can’t.”
She tried not to scoff.
“You think there is something you can do for me instead?”
He said nothing for a while, just stared at her. “Let’s talk please.”
