“Exactly what you heard babe” My breath caught in my throat and my heart was pounding like it wanted to tear its way out of my chest.

“No” I whispered, shaking my head as if I could shake the thought away. “That doesn’t make sense because we were in London and I was with you, I was with you!”
Daxon’s lips curled into a cruel smile and his voice was smooth and mocking when he said “Exactly, you were with me and do you know why she died?”
My stomach twisted violently and I asked “What do you mean?” but my voice was louder this time and edged with panic. “What are you saying?”
He leaned closer and his shadow swallowed me whole while his words sank deep like venom. “Exactly what you’re thinking.”
My entire body went rigid.
