I turned slowly and faced him. “Nothing…”

Jake cut me off immediately. “I was telling your sister I’d love to take her out some time. Hope you don’t mind.”

I stared at Tristan, waiting to hear what he’d say. My heart was hammering in my chest, but I tried to keep my face neutral.

“Athena is mature enough to know what she wants,” he said, his blue eyes locked on mine.

Something cold twisted in my stomach at his casual tone.

“So if she agrees to go out with me, you don’t have a problem with it, right?” Jake pressed, glancing between us.

Tristan’s gaze never wavered from my face. “Of course not. Whatever she wants is what she should get. If she feels like you’re man enough to handle her, who am I to object? I’ll support her as her elder brother.”
