Chapter 22. Ashes in the Blood
Her lungs locked. Her father’s lighter seared her thigh, as if the initials carved into it had turned against her.
Samuel Hale. Betrayer.
“No,” she choked, voice raw. The ridge blurred, headlights streaking, engines snarling. “You’re lying.”
Magnus’s laugh carried cruel above the storm. “Believe what you want, ghost girl. Truth doesn’t care.”
Axel roared, bike slamming into his father’s again, sparks spitting into the dark. His eyes blazed like a storm breaking. “Shut your mouth!”
But Magnus’s smirk only widened.
The pack splintered. Wolves clashed with rivals, bikes swerving, fists flying, even at full speed. Engines howled, tires screeched, chrome slammed chrome.
Riven’s pulse screamed. She ducked as a chain whipped past her helmet, sparks bursting against the asphalt. Axel swerved sharp, nearly tipping them into the ravine.
Her scream tore from her throat, but her grip held, nails biting into his jacket.
