Chapter 104. Deceptive Ties

As soon as Harper said this, Michelle, who still wanted to say a few more sarcastic words, immediately stopped talking.

Only then did Harper ease up. She looked at Damian and said, “I still have to work tonight. Please take care of her.”

Damian nodded, picked up the car key, and said, “I’ll give you a ride.”

“No need. I’ll drive.”

After Harper refused, she took Taya’s arm and left the OB/GYN section of the hospital.

Michelle immediately sat up after they left and said to Damian, “Help me understand. Why do you have to return the money to her?”

Damian glanced outside. After ensuring they were far away, he replied, “I’m afraid she won’t believe me if I don’t return the money to her.”

Michelle snorted indifferently, her charming face full of resentment. “Just how much longer do I have to wait?”

Damian stepped forward, touched her belly, and comforted her. “Michelle, be a good girl. After she pays off the mortgage, I’ll take you to live in
